Mall Safety

Hello, my name is Micheal Williams. For 3 years I have been on the Mall Safety team for GEM.
I possess a Degree in Legal Support and Services and have Certifications as a Registered Behavior Technician(RBT), Instructor of De-escalation techniques and Trauma-informed practices, as well as an Instructor for Youth Mental Health First Aide.
I have worked in various communities supporting and advocating for many youths from a variety of backgrounds and upbringings. I was the teen night lead counselor and afterschool program assistant in Spokane at West Central Community Center. I have worked in Public Education P-12 for 15yrs in Special Education in Spokane and King County. Para-professional for 7yrs in the highly capable and severely profound population as a 1:1 and whole classroom support staff. My time as an Instructor and District Behavior Interventionist for 8yrs, teaching strategies to students and provided professional development to fellow educators to better self-regulate and manage behavior that can be a barrier to learning. Entering 3rd yr as a Washington Educators Association cadre member developing and delivering professional development to educators statewide around Behavior management and systems of support to teach and reinforce positive social interactions. This fall 2022 I started working with the Washington OSPI workgroup on the use of Isolation and Restraint in Public Education.
The work we do here is in line with and fuels my passion to support, mentor, and advocate for our next generation of leaders and community members.
